Integrated Path to Wellness
A Retreat proposed to be designed in a small town in Kerala, India to promote the potential of the site and it’s local resources. It depicts the integration of Contemporary construction technology with Vernacular materials to achieve a facade, i.e. native yet exotic to the locals and tourists of Kerala.

This 16-acre campus comprises of diverse functions that aim toward the wellness of mind, body, and soul. In order to attach the visitors to their roots, the architecture speaks an indigenous language in terms
of materials application and construction technique.

Located at the highest point on-site, exposed Adobe mud walls and Bamboo canopies welcome the visitors with aesthetics of natural light, green landscapes, and vistas of the site.

Following similar architectural styles, the cottages are also adorned with graphic ‘Warli Art’. The walls are made of a mixture of branches, earth, and cow dung that make a red ochre background for the paintings. A bamboo stick is chewed at the end to give it the texture of a paintbrush. These ritual paintings were usually created on walls of village huts.
