At Hitchcock Park

This Project is a dedication to the great Alfred Hitchcock where architecture meets themed entertainment design. The goal is to design a journey through acute architecture that can instill a perception of suspense through its exterior and in turn translate it into a fearful ride through contrast in design.

Angular forms give scope for danger and uncertainty, hence exaggerating the idea of fear and suspense. Funneling and Channelization yields anxiety and panic, similar to the emotions experienced through a Hitchcock film.

Through this experiential architecture, the walls, floor, and ceiling close down on the user. Diversion and Release build upon suspense and gives cause to curiosity. The user is overwhelmed by relief and a sense of safety.

Various materials were explored to enhance the suspense of this sculpture. A more polished and contemporary usage of concrete, glass, and steel lattices were selected to conceal the suspense within.

For instance, the Trespa series of Wall Cladding was studied to portray variations of a single material that could create a dramatic character synonymous with the experience of the ride.
